NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – Senior Blake Harris (Fort Wayne, Ind.) and sophomore Daniel Baker (Okemos, Mich.) will lead the men's squad, while junior Samina Qureshi (Columbia City, Ind.) and sophomore Hannah Wappes (Columbia City, Ind.) will guide the women's team, as captains for head coach Geoff Lambert during the 2017 Manchester University cross-country season.

Harris is a returning all-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference selection among three all-league and honorable mention awards, as he placed ninth at the 2016 championships, while Baker competed in six events as a freshman which included a top 30 mark at Hanover College's Madison Kiwanis Invitational. Qureshi has been among the HCAC's top 50 as a freshman and sophomore, which included an 18th-place finish in 2015 and Wappes is the loop's reigning Freshman of the Year after gaining all-conference accolades with a third-place finish line crossing last fall. The effort was part of two top 10s, as she also raced to a seventh-place mark at Hanover College's Madison Kiwanis Invitational.

Manchester University, host institution of the 2017 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships, hosts its annual alumni meet Saturday, Aug. 26, as a precursor to the regular season. The home and regular season slate has its curtain raised Friday, Sept. 1, with the running of the Hokum Karem.
