ALBION, MICH. – Manchester University's offense finished with six shots on goal and a goal as part of a 6-1 non-conference loss to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Conference member Albion Saturday, Sept. 21.
The Spartans, falling to 1-5-1, trailed 3-0 less than 21 minutes in. MU trimmed the deficit to 3-1 after sophomore midfielder Julio Luevano (Aguascalientes, Mexico) took a pass from junior midfielder Zac Hansen (Muskegon, Mich.) and hammered it into the net in the 35th minute for his first goal of the season. Albion answered with three more goals early in the second half.
Luevano took two more attempts at the Britons' net, while junior forward Loic Youth (Detroit, Mich.) added two shot on goal tries. The hosts held a 21-6 shots advantage, as sophomore goalkeeper Craig Thacker (Lebanon, Ind.) ended with 10 saves.
Manchester University wraps up a five-match road trip Tuesday, Sept. 24, with a 5 p.m. start at Andrews University of Michigan.
