LEXINGTON, KY.- Manchester University went back to work leading off a busy weekend of Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contests Saturday, April 6.
The Spartans dropped an 8-1 decision to host Transylvania University. Sophomore Kyle Lahman (North Manchester, Ind.) served as the lone win at the top singles' spot, claiming a three-set victory over Transylvania's Robert Albrecht 6-3, 1-6, 10-7. The win carried his overall record to above .500 (4-3).
Lahman and partner, junior Bobby Swaby (Farmersburg, Ind.), fell short in a closely-contested number one doubles match against Transylvania's Albrecht and Tyler Pewit. The 8-5 loss was part of the Spartans' 3-0 deficit going into singles play.
The Spartans (1-7 overall, 0-2 HCAC) are back in action Sunday April 7, with their home opener against Franklin College. They will pair up with the women's squad for a dual beginning with doubles action starting at 4:00 p.m.
