NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – Manchester University sophomore Kyle Lahman (North Manchester, Ind.) kept his recent impressive run intact Saturday April 27 against Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Rose Hulman Institute of Technology.
Lahman, picking up his fifth straight win, cruised past the Fightin' Engineers' Ben Paras 6-4, 6-2 to improve his overall singles record to 9-4. Despite Lahman's win, the Spartans (4-10 overall, 2-5 HCAC) after being down 3-0 after doubles action, came up short on their comeback, falling 7-2.
In addition to Lahman's singles victory, junior Miro Arguijo (Corpus Christi, Texas) fought to top opponent Nate Moore in straight sets 6-4, 6-4. Junior Bobby Swabby (Farmersburg, Ind.) pushed Rose-Hulman's Deven Fritz to three sets after falling 6-2 in the first set and topping Fritz 6-4 in the second. However, he fell just short in a third-set superbreaker 10-7.
Manchester University turns around to play Sunday April 28. They travel to league-leading Earlham College for a 1 p.m. battle with the Quakers.
