DEFIANCE, OHIO – Senior Harrison Hollis (Lebanon, Ind.) and freshman Travis Murr (Franklin, Ind.) continue to make the sprint events section of Manchester University's record book their own person playground.
Hollis shaved a 100-hundredth of a second off his previous 60-meter dash best (7.04 seconds), and Murr cut eight-hundredths of a second off his former season best in the 200 meter dash, clocking a 22.85 at Defiance College's Dick Small Memorial Invitational Friday, Feb. 9. They were both good for event firsts.
Freshman Lucas Fontanez (Lowell, Ind.) continued an impressive evening for Coach Brian Cashdollar's squad at the Smart Athletic Center. He led three Spartans in the top four of the mile, crossing first in 4:36.75. He was followed by sophomore Daniel Baker (Okemos, Mich.) (4:39.24) in second and sophomore Sam Barnard (Indianapolis, Ind.) (4:45.19) in fourth. Fontanez was also involved in a second victory, leading off the winning 4x400 quartet of sophomore Cameron Kimmell (Michigantown, Ind.), freshman Keyen Taulbee (Michigantown, Ind.) and sophomore Cameron Walton (Indianapolis, Ind.) to a time of 3:52.54.
The Spartans return to the track Saturday, Feb. 17, competing at the 2018 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships.
