The Spartans enter the week in fifth place on the league standings. … Manchester University has won four of the last five in the series including a 64-62 win at Stauffer-Wolfe Arena Jan. 9. … For the second time this season, the Black and Gold and Hanover battled to the wire Jan. 26. The Spartans dropped a 68-65 decision to the visiting Panthers but gave the current HCAC co-second place sharers. Freshman guard Hannah Field (Fort Wayne, Ind.) led MU with 12 points equaling a single-game season high. Sophomore guard Jaime Childress (Indianapolis, Ind.) added 11 and grabbed seven rebounds. Other statistical leaders for the Spartans were sophomore center Alyssa Hammond (Ossian, Ind.) with nine rebounds, part of a 43-32 lead on the boards, and sophomore guard Jocelyn Hamilton (Columbus, Ind.) with three steals and three assists. … Field's double-digit outing continued a solid recent run of play. Her points per game average is up eight-tenths (5.6-6.4) over the last three games, and she's hit at least one three-point basket in five straight with multiples four times. … Hammond's nine rebounds, against Hanover, were a personal single-game season high, while Hamilton's assists' total continued a run of four straight multiple-assist games for the sophomore. … Childress continues to lead the conference in three-point field goal accuracy at 43.8 percent. Hammond 0.6 blocked shots per game and freshman guard Katie Arterburn's (Indianapolis, Ind.) 1.6 steals per game are just off the top 10, each ranking 11th.
