Game details: The Spartans, harboring a 2-6 mark, take on San Diego Christian College at 8:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, and the University of Redlands Tuesday, Dec. 19. Game times are 8:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, respectively. Spartan Shorts: A trio consisting of junior forward/center Beth Schaefer (Fort Wayne, Ind.) and sophomore guards Nicole Weaver (Fort Wayne, Ind.) and Haley Farris (Sharpsville, Ind.) has lifted the Black and Gold. Weaver's first in scoring (12.3 points per game), assists (3.8 pg) and steals (1.6 pg); Schaefer is the team leader in field goal accuracy (45.1 pct.); rebounding (7.4 pg) and blocked shots (.4 pg); and Farris is at the front of the class in three-point field goal accuracy (50 pct.) and free throw conversion (77.8). Schaefer joins Weaver in double-digit points average (11.9 pg) … Looking deeper into their numbers, Weaver has produced double-figure points in three straight outings among six such games this season. Farris' climb into third on the season points' chart (8.5 pg) is due to averaging 14.7 per contest over her last four appearances which includes her first collegiate 20-point-plus finish. Schaefer's proven a model of consistency in scoring and rebounding with six double-digit points contests and grabbing at least eight caroms five times … Freshman guard Mikalia Taylor (Connersville, Ind.) isn't far off her teammates' pace with a 7.9 points per game mark. Fellow freshman Hannah Smith (Upland, Ind.), patrolling the post area, rounds out the top five at 6.3 points per outing … Farris, Schaefer, and Weaver each wound up in double-digit scoring in the team's most recent outing, a 73-42 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference loss at league-leading Rose-Hulman Dec. 16. Schaefer topped the list, garnering 12 points to go with six rebounds. Farris and Weaver were next with 11 apiece, as Weaver added four assists and two steals to her total, and Farris grabbed four boards, dished out two assists and picked up a steal … Dzurick's team breaks for the Christmas holiday following its two games in California. They return to action Saturday, Dec. 30, with a non-conference regular-season finale at Beloit College of Wisconsin.
